Frequent questions

• Do I need an account? Never.
• Why does the app ask for my location? To fetch the forecast where you are, and nothing else. You can decline and type a city instead.
• Where does the weather come from? From Open-Meteo, an open service that needs no account and no API key.
• Do the suggestions adapt to me? You set how easily you feel cold in the preferences, and the app takes it into account.
• Does it work abroad? Yes, anywhere the weather provider has data.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app wipes your settings and saved cities. There is nothing else to delete, with us or anywhere else.

Compatibility

QuoiPorter requires iOS 16.4 or later. Every major iOS release gets a compatibility update.

In one sentence

QuoiPorter uses your location to fetch a forecast, then forgets it. No account, no advertising, no tracker.

Location

If you allow it, the app reads your approximate location and sends it to the weather provider to get a forecast. It lands on no server of ours, for the good reason that we have none.

You can withdraw that permission whenever you want, in Settings, Privacy and Security, Location Services. The app keeps working with a city typed by hand.

The weather provider

Forecasts come from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), hosted in Europe. Two calls only, api.open-meteo.com for the forecast and geocoding-api.open-meteo.com to look up a city. That service receives an approximate location and a date, never your identity.

What we do not do

• No account, so no email address collected inside the app.
• No ad network, no third-party analytics SDK.
• No movement history kept, on the device or anywhere else.
• No selling and no sharing for commercial purposes.

Apple diagnostics

If you share analytics with developers in iOS settings, Apple sends us anonymous, aggregated crash reports. Sharing stops in Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, portability: you exercise them in the app, because we hold no data about you. If you email us, your address stays with us until we answer, then it goes. The CNIL can be contacted in case of disagreement.

Changes

We date every change at the top of the page, and any change affecting collection would also go through the release notes.
